This grape is an improved Muscat Hybrid developed by Dr. Harold Olmo of U.C. Davis. Development of this grape began in 1948 and was completed in 1981; it was patented in 1983. It is a cross between Alexandria Muscat and Grenache. The varietal flavors display the distinctive, floral characteristics of Muscat. It has been traditionally used as a blending grape due to its ability to enhance the flavor and aroma of other wines, but its fruit-forward character makes it very pleasant on its own as well. However, it also has citrus fruit flavors (grapefruit, lemon zest) with better acidity. The Rapazzini Winery Sympnony is a light straw color.
